Choose the zone of your accommodation in Rome

When looking for accommodation in a city you have never been to, one of the most important things is the right choice of the zone in the city where the lodging is located. It all depends on your budget and the main reason you are visiting Rome. For one or two days stay, it is reccomended to stay near the Rome Termini main station, but it is well you read something about the zone in order not to have unexpected surprises. Around the Rome Termini it is possible to find very affordable family-managed accommodations to multi-stars luxury hotels. Lodging in the old Rome quarters can be an exciting experience, but your budget should be little higher. As alternative, there are some very nice residential neighborhoods, not exactly in the old city but very close to it and well linked by metro and buses: San Giovanni, Re di Roma, Flaminio, Prati, Gianicolo, Parioli, Appio - Tuscolano, Ostiense, Garbatella, Piramide, Testaccio are the main examples.

The main railway station can be a good choice for expert travellers who are not afraid of hassle around the Roma Termini station. In fact, around the station there are many accommodations, some cheap some not, some clean and safe, some not so much. If you prefer to spend a little more, there are B&B near the Colosseum or the Vatican city. Some other areas of the city can be great to families or silence lovers: Re di Roma is a wealthy residential neighborhood, central enough and very well linked by subway to the main sightseeings of Rome. Some cheap B&B that we can recommend are placed on this area.

Choosing a Bed a Breakfast in Rome

First of all, notice that B&B in Rome are home-made lodgings, most of them are houses or appartments, with a zone of the house dedicated to guests, with rooms furnished and fully equipped according to laws. There about 2,000 Bed and Breakfasts in Rome, so the range to choose is wide.

Affittacamere and Pensioni are lodgings pretty close to Bed and Breakfasts, but they are not exactly the same, as not always
they offer breakfast (in this case it would be better you ask).

A very important thing to take into account while performing your reservation, is the location in the city. Not necessarily the centrally located B&B's are the best ones. It depends on what you require, and who are the travellers.

Bed and Breakfast zone by zone

Bed and Breakfast in San Giovanni or Re di Roma, can be a very good choice for families with children or old persons with low budget. In fact, this neighborhood is a quite and safe place, well linked to city center and to airports, with parks and green all around, large streets, markets, supermarkets, banks, and every kind of service. Just be sure that B&B is close at least 400 meters to the metro station.

Staying in a Bed a Breakfast in the main squares of the historic city center can be an unforgetable experience. Sometimes, but not always, they can cost you a little more. Very nice B&B's are placed in Trastevere, Piazza Navona, Campo de' Fiori, Pantheon, Spagna Square, Trevi Fountain. Most of them are not close to the metro stations, but you will hardly need to take it, as everything is close and you may walk around to discover the treasures of Rome.

Near the railways stations there are lots of B&B's. Please read carefully comments on the Tripadvisor and the information provided in the reservation system portal. Bed and Breakfasts near the main railway station Roma Termini, and near to the Tiburtina Station, are not always suitable for families with children or old people. They are highly reccommended for experienced travellers who doesn't get afraid about the hassle around the stations. Would you come from an small town in the quite mountains, and it is your first time in a big city, it would be better not to stay near the station. Nevertheless, usually italians knows has to be make you feel at your own town.
